Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks fell short in the 2026 national title game, falling 79-51 to UCLA just a couple of months ago. But since then, Staley and the Gamecocks have been hard at work on the recruiting trail, landing big-time players coming out of high school and from the transfer portal.

It seems the Gamecocks are putting themselves in a position to make a strong run at the program's third national title. And it appears as though Las Vegas agrees. The oddsmakers released updated odds for the 2027 women's basketball national championship, and they like what Staley and South Carolina have been doing this offseason.

All lines via FanDuel Sportsbook:

South Carolina has (+250) odds to win it all next season, tied with Geno Auriemma's UConn Huskies (+250). FanDuel also has the USC Trojans at (+450), the Texas Longhorns at (+950), with LSU and Michigan both at (+1500)

Given the players that Staley has landed in the offseason so far, it's no surprise that South Carolina has such high odds. South Carolina landed star guard Jordan Lee from Texas via the transfer portal. The Gamecocks also landed five-star prospect Oliviyah Edwards, who was previously committed to Tennessee before getting released from her letter of intent in Knoxville.

South Carolina also signed French basketball star Justine Loubens, who brings some major international experience to the Gamecocks' roster. The Gamecocks also didn't have a single player enter the transfer portal this offseason, as they will return Chloe Kitts, Joyce Edwards, Tessa Johnson and Maddy McDaniel.

Of course, we won't know for sure just how good this Gamecock team really is before the team suits up and plays. But it's obvious that Staley has put South Carolina in position to be a major contender in 2026.
