South Carolina fans were sweating bullets, but Gamecocks advance to another Elite 8

South Carolina really had their fans sweating all the way through the end of that game.

The South Carolina Gamecocks are heading to the Elite Eight for the fifth straight year, but not without giving their entire fanbase a heart attack. The Gamecocks went toe-to-toe with the Maryland Terrapins, and Maryland certainly gave South Carolina a run for their money, but the experience of the Gamecocks winning in the end.

South Carolina was lucky to walk away with the 71-67 win over Maryland as the Terrapins threw everything they had at the Gamecocks. Maryland's defense proved to live up to the hype, and the Gamecocks didn't necessarily play a clean game of their own.

South Carolina fans made sure to let the Gamecocks know their thoughts on the game, some demanding they not scare them like that again on social media.

Survive and advance; that is all any team can do in the NCAA Tournament, and with how much experience South Carolina has played in this position, they certainly know how to survive.

Let's give a little credit to Maryland, though, that is a good team, and they have a really good defense. South Carolina didn't look their best today, but some of it was because Maryland played well and put pressure on the Gamecocks.

Maryland is a really good team and there is a reason they were a 4-seed and made it to the Sweet 16.

Let's focus on the NCAA Tournament ladies, not on making social media posts.

The Gamecocks could be in trouble is they play like that the rest of the tournament. Duke is not a team that will just roll over just like Maryland didn't. The Gamecocks need more from their starting rotation.

It is probably safe to say not only did they give South Carolina fans a heart attack, but they also gave everyone who picked them to win it all in their bracket a heart attack.
