South Carolina was forced to kick a field goal with just over six minutes left in the game to make it a 10-14 game with Clemson leading. South Carolina was going to go for it on a 4th-and-4 play, but a delay of game penalty made it so that the Gamecocks didn't want to take a chance of getting no points so they kicked the field goal.

To the surprise of everyone, especially South Carolina fans, the Gamecocks kicked an onside kick that was unsuccessful, giving the Clemson Tigers a great field position. The good news was that South Carolina was able to force a three-and-out on defense, but got the ball with poor field position.

Gamecocks fans were wondering why head coach Shane Beamer would make that call, and they definitely were letting him hear it on social media.

Kicking it away would have given the Gamecocks a better field position when they forced Clemson to go three-and-out on their next drive. It really just doesn't make sense, yes, you can catch them sleeping, but still, it's a very risky move.

Shane Beamer is a good coach who makes questionable decisions that make him look like. abad coach.

Clemson wasn't ready for it, but clearly, that didn't matter because they were able to jump on it, even though South Carolina was ready for it.

Every South Carolina fan asked this question in unison when they saw the Gamecocks kicking that onside kick.

Again, he may not be a terrible coach; he is young and still learning when to call certain calls at the right time. This was a prime example of calling the wrong call at the wrong time, and hopefully, he learns from it.
