South Carolina fans are ecstatic that former 5-star WR Nyck Harbor is growing up
Nyck Harbor is beginning to understand the wide receiver position, and it is something amazing to see right in front of our eyes. The former 5-star recruit out of Washington, D.C., came to South Carolina as a tight end/defense end out of high school, but Beamer chose to convert him into a wide receiver with his size and sprinter speed.
Harbor had 12 receptions for 195 yards in his freshman season and now, in his sophomore season, has 14 receptions for 147 yards with a touchdown in each season. Those stats are obviously before the Missouri game today, and he should surpass his stats from last season after today's game. So far against the Tigers, Harbor has two receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown.
After being a sort of hero in the Alabama game, even though the Gamecocks were unable to get the win in Tuscaloosa, the hype around Harbor began to grow, and how it is festering with his performance against Missouri.
This throw from Sellers to Harbor was right on the money and the way that Harbor was able to get so open is truly something special.
Harbor may only have two catches in the game so far, but they are two very important catches as one went for a touchdown, and the other set up an easy first and goal play that resulted in a touchdown. South Carolina fans are ecstatic that their former 5-star wide receiver is starting to figure it out, and they are letting him know on social media.
Nyck Harbor has unlocked Nyck Harbor.
That speed can really kill plus you add onto the fact that he is 6-foot-5, it just makes it almost unfair for opposing defenses.
Quarterback LaNorris Sellers and Harbor are building that connection, and as two young guys, it could be something special for years to come if they both stay with the program.
We could sit and watch highlights of deep-ball throws to Nyck Harbor all day.
Harbor came to South Carolina as a tight end/defensive end so the wide receiver position was new to him in college. He also was a sprinter in high school so clearly Beamer saw something in him as a pass catcher and he was right.
This is the game we have all been waiting for from him.
Harbor is merely a sophomore and has played wide receiver now for almost two full seasons. The more he plays, the better he gets and the better he gets the more of a problem he becomes.
