As the calendar turns to Memorial Day weekend, people across the country are preparing their summer holiday plans.

But for the South Carolina Gamecocks, including head coach Shane Beamer and staff, hitting the recruiting trail is of the highest priority.

A big position of need in the future in Columbia is under center at quarterback, as returning starter LaNorris Sellers is anticipated to forgo his senior season in 2027 and declare for the NFL Draft. The South Carolina coaching staff is preparing for just that, offering several talented signal callers from the class of 2028.

One of those recently offered prospects is an elite quarterback from Princeton, New Jersey. The Gamecocks recently offered four-star quarterback Lucas Pock, who is now one of 10 signal callers the Gamecocks have offered for his class.

Prock, who plays high school football out of The Hun School of Princeton, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 6 ranked overall quarterback for 2028, and the No. 4 overall prospect from his home state of New Jersey. The school is a private boarding school located just west of Princeton's city center. Prock transferred there ahead of his 2025 season.

South Carolina is just one of several big-time programs that have offered the New Jersey prospect. The quarterback holds offers from a number of major programs, including Auburn, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Notre Dame among several others.

During his sophomore season at Hun, Prock put together a big-time season, throwing for 4,330 yards with 41 touchdowns and just seven interceptions, along with a quarterback rating of 145.3, per MaxPreps
