South Carolina just landed another top defensive target in the Early Signing Period; The Gamecocks beat out big names such as Kentucky and Southern Cal for defensive lineman Christian Ingram as the star defensive talent officially chose South Carolina.

Ingram is a three-star, 6-foot-6, 260-pound defensive lineman who, if he starts next season, could be on the line with players such as Dylan Stewart and T.J. Sanders. Ingram adds a lot to this already scary defense and could have a role early with potential players leaving after this season for the NFL.

While the decision came down to South Carolina, Southern Cal, and Kentucky, Ingram had offers from a ton of schools with top defenses, such as Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, Clemson, Colorado, Florida, Florida State, and Vanderbilt.

Ingram comes from the state of Georgia, a state South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer has been very successful in when bringing in recruits. The young defensive lineman is ranked as the No. 83 player in the state and the No. 80 defensive lineman in the state.

On November 22nd, Ingram made his official visit to South Carolina when the Gamecocks faced Wofford in what ended up being a game over by halftime. However, even against a lesser opponent, South Carolina put on a defensive clinic.

Ingram is one of 22 recruits who officially signed with South Carolina today as the Early Signing Period began. Without National Letters of Intent this year, some players signed NIL deals or official signing letters for the school.
