South Carolina men's basketball had a bit of a rocky start to the season when they dropped their season opener against North Florida at home. It definitely wasn't a good look when the Gamecocks were trying to make a statement this season that they are better than everyone is giving them credit for.

After the loss to North Florida, South Carolina picked it up and beat South Carolina State adn Towson convincingly, but that loss to UNF will always follow them. Now, the Gamecocks have a chance to make a big statement by traveling to Indiana to take on the No. 16 Hoosiers.

If South Carolina can find a way to get a win in Assembly Hall and come home 3-1, they might be able to make people forget more and more about that UNF loss. South Carolina was able to prove the doubters wrong last season, and they can do it again this season, but they need to play complimentary basketball and work on the shooting from outside the arc.

It won't be easy to go into Assembly Hall and take on a ranked Hoosier team, but head coach Lamont Paris has found a way to pull off upsets before, and he just needs to figure it out today. This could be a real turning point for South Carolina, even this early on in the season.
