South Carolina didn't just win on Tuesday night, the Gamecocks took control of the ball and never loosened their grip. Behind 29 combined bench points from Elijah Strong and freshman phenom Eli Ellis, South Carolina cruised to an 87-58 victory over Radford on Tuesday night at Colonial Life Arena.
South Carolina opened on a 7-0 burst, watched Radford briefly answer with a matching run, then simply pulled away. An 8-0 spurt late in first half of the game, fueled by Strong, Ellis, and Sharavjamts, pushed the lead to double digits. From there, Radford never got closer than seven points and were held by 31% shooting from the floor and just 29% from deep.
Strong delivered his best outing as a Gamecock, dropping 15 points on 7-for-10 shooting. Ellis matched the energy with 14 points, three boards, and three assists, knocking down all four of his free throws and shooting 5-of-8 from the field. Junior guard Mike Sharavjamts added a statement performance of his own, registering his first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The win extended one of head coach Lamont Paris' most striking statistical trends: South Carolina is now 16-0 under Paris when scoring 80+ points. This marks the fourth straight game clearing that threshold to open the season.
South Carolina (4-0) heads on its first road trip of the year, traveling to the historic Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia for the Greenbriar Tip Off. Both Matchups will air on CBS Sports Network.
