The South Carolina Gamecocks' baseball season has been one to largely forget in Columbia this year. The Gamecocks reached 30 losses for the first time in program history, and finished the regular season getting swept by Vanderbilt in a three-game series.Â
But South Carolina will look to reset this week in Hoover, Ala., as the annual SEC Tournament will get underway. The action begins on Tuesday, with the championship game set for Sunday afternoon.Â
The Gamecocks have won the SEC Tournament just once in school history, in 2004 under head coach Ray Tanner. Here's everything to know about South Carolina in the 2026 SEC baseball tournament.Â
South Carolina SEC Tournament seed
The Gamecocks earned the No. 15 seed in this year's tournament, after finishing 7-23 in conference play this season. South Carolina earned the second-to-lowest seed behind Missouri, which went 6-24 in the SEC this season. The SEC Tournament hasn't been kind to the Gamecocks historically, as South Carolina is 33-56 all-time in SEC Tournament play.

South Carolina Game 1 detailsÂ
The Gamecocks drew the No. 10 Tennessee Volunteers in the first round. South Carolina did not play the Volunteers during the regular season, so this will mark the first meeting between the two this year. Tennessee finished 15-15 in SEC play with a 37-19 overall record.Â

Gamecocks SEC Tournament pathÂ
South Carolina's SEC Tournament path doesn't exactly seem all that easy. If the Gamecocks defeat Tennessee in the first round, the No. 7 seed Arkansas is waiting. The Razorbacks took a three-game series against the Gamecocks in late March, but South Carolina did win Game 3 by a score of 9-4.Â
Following Arkansas in the bracket is No. 2 seeded Texas, which finished 40-12 on the season. The Longhorns finished second in the conference regular-season standings behind Georgia, going 19-10 in SEC play. South Carolina won Game 1 of a three-game series against the Longhorns in early April, but Texas took the last two games.
South Carolina advancing that far into the tournament would be a huge surprise. If it happens, the Gamecocks would likely face some heavyweights from the bottom of the bracket like No. 6 Auburn or No. 3 Texas A&M, neither of whom faced South Carolina during the regular season. Â
Obviously the 2026 baseball season won't be one South Carolina fans remember fondly. But the good news is that with a new coaching hire coming in over the next month, brighter days on the diamond are ahead.Â
