South Carolina among finalists for former 5-star Texas A&M DL signee
The transfer portal has only been open for four days, and there has certainly already been a lot of movement in guys entering the portal and already having their minds made up about where they wanted to go.
South Carolina has been fortunate not to be hurt too badly by the portal and has had less than 20 guys choose to transfer. Now is the time, though, for head coach Shane Beamer to work his Beamer charm and bring in guys to fill spots in the lineup that need veteran help.
The Gamecocks are on a short list for one defensive lineman who could be a game-changer for South Carolina next year, especially with guys on the defensive line like Kyle Kennard most likely heading to the NFL.
Former Texas A&M defensive lineman Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy has told On3 who he was planning to visit and when, and South Carolina is one of four teams the former 5-star rusher is choosing between.
Coming out of high school, Brownlow-Dindy was the No. 11 ranked prospect in his class and chose to sign with the Aggies. After three seasons, including a redshirt season where he didn't play at all, the former top recruit chose to enter the transfer portal.
As of right now, Brownlow-Dindy has scheduled visits with Vanderbilt and South Carolina and could potentially be setting up visits with Alabama and North Carolina as well. While his stats aren't at all flashy, Brownlow-Dindy has a lot of potential and was a top-ranked recruit for a reason. He might just need to be in the right place to show his true potential.
Beamer tried getting Brownlow-Dindy to Columbia when he was in high school and ranked as the No. 4 defensive lineman in the Class of 2022. Now in his fourth year, Beamer has a little more experience and more of a resume to try and bag the top pass rusher.
