The South Carolina Gamecocks and head coach Shane Beamer are hard at work on the recruiting trail. Although the Gamecocks' 2027 class is ranked 32nd in the country with nine verbal commits, there is always room for more.
One prospect that South Carolina is working hard on landing is Robert Geathers III, who is a 2027 linebacker out of Charlotte, N.C. Per the 247Sports Composite, Geathers is rated as a safety, checking in at No. 52 in his position and No. 18 overall in the state of North Carolina. He helped his team reach the finals of the state playoffs, as well.
According to Gamecock Central, South Carolina is a finalist for the North Carolina linebacker. He is set to visit Columbia on June 12, and is also taking visits to Tennessee and Georgia later next month, and had a visit to Florida on May 28.
Geathers has football, and even NFL experience in his blood. The linebacker is the son of former NFL defensive end Robert Geathers Jr. His father played a whopping 11 seasons in the league, all with the Cincinnati Bengals, who drafted him in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. Across his career, he made 104 starts, and had 326 total tackles with 34 sacks. During his Bulldog career, Geathers made 81 tackles with five sacks, two interceptions and a forced fumble.
Although his father went to Georgia, and the Bulldogs are expected to be a strong contender because of that, South Carolina is in a strong position to land the Charlotte prospect.
