South Carolina’s 2027 recruiting class includes just two verbal commits and is ranked outside of the top 50 in the country. But one key addition that could flip the class upside down is the addition of five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, who announced his final five schools on Tuesday.
Luckily for South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer, the Gamecocks made the final cut.
Dobson, the No. 3 ranked overall cornerback for 2027 and the No. 1 ranked prospect out of North Carolina, released his final five schools, consisting of South Carolina in addition to LSU, Michigan, Auburn, and Texas A&M. The finalists were first reported by Rivals' Hayes Fawcett:

It is unclear if Dobson has a commitment date at this time, but he has visits with his final schools scheduled for later this summer. On May 29, Dobson will visit Auburn, followed by a June 5 visit to College Station. He then will go to LSU on June 12, with his last and final visit for June set for South Carolina on the 19th.

The Gamecock's 2027 class includes just one secondary player, in 4-star safety Jernard Albright out of St. Frances in Baltimore. South Carolina also had 4-star cornerback Aamaury Fountain previously committed to its 2027 class, but he flipped to Florida earlier this month.
Beamer landing Dobson, who plays high school football out of Cornelius, N.C. would be huge for South Carolina's 2027. The Gamecocks making Dobson's final list of schools is the first step to doing just that.
