The South Carolina Gamecocks are starting to make moves on the recruiting trail. In recent weeks, head coach Shane Beamer and his staff has landed the likes of 4-stars in receiver Jaiven Robinson, as well as athlete/running Brayden Tyson.Â
There could be several other commits coming as well. South Carolina is also in the running for linebacker Robert Geathers III, as well as 4-star cornerback Kelvin Millington and 4-star EDGE rusher Success Nwabude. South Carolina has the chance to land a number of guys before the recruiting dead period starts next month.
But before diving into how likely it is that those targets will commit, let's take a look at where the Gamecocks' class ranks. It currently has nine members as of May 31.Â
South Carolina's 2027 class ranks 34th overall, one spot ahead of Tennessee's 35th-ranked class. The Gamecocks are also right behind Kansas State's No. 33 overall ranked class, and are two spots behind the Georgia Bulldogs.Â
Inside the SEC, the Gamecocks rank 10th overall out of all 16 teams, right behind the Georgia Bulldogs and ahead of Tennessee.Â
Although it's still quite early in the process, the current South Carolina class would rank much lower than Shane Beamer's last two classes, which checked in a 16th overall in 2025, and was 22nd in 2024.Â
2026 is a crucial season for head coach Shane Beamer, following the 4-8 season in Columbia. The Gamecocks likely need to at least make a bowl game or have a big-time recruiting class for Beamer to inject confidence in his tenure moving forward.
