It was a rout from start to finish. The South Carolina Gamecocks entered Saturday's game against the No. 16 Florida Gators as 10.5-point underdogs, and after not winning an SEC game since last season, there were few who believed the Gamecocks could go on the road and pull out a victory.

But on Saturday afternoon, we finally saw the team that head coach Shane Beamer has been saying had a hell of a practice. The team that is Beamer's most talented he's had since he's been in Columbia. The squad that Beamer put together this offseason finally played like many thought it would this season.

The Gamecocks went into Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and spoiled Florida's homecoming, upsetting the Gators 38-19, in a game that Beamer's team dominated from start to finish.

Although the Gamecock defense allowed a quick score from Florida's offense in the first possession, as quarterback Aaron Philo found Bailey Stockton, for a 59-yard touchdown pass, quarterback LaNorris Sellers got the offense back on track after a missed field goal, leading a 10-play, 65-yard scoring drive to even it at 7-all.

The momentum started to shift towards South Carolina midway through the second quarter, as the Gamecocks picked off Philo to set up a touchdown that gave South Carolina a 17-10 lead. The Gamecock defense, which limited Florida to rush for just 120 yards on the day, forced the Gators to settle for a 43-yard field goal, which was missed.

South Carolina led 17-10 at halftime, but in the previous three SEC games, the Gamecocks had been outscored 31-0 in the third quarter. Florida was set to get the ball back coming out of the second half, so it was critical that the Gamecocks locked in. Both teams were hit with a 45-minute lightning delay as they went to the locker room at halftime.

In the second half, South Carolina did not fall flat like it had done in recent weeks. Instead, the Gamecock defense forced Florida to settle for a field goal, and then scored 21 unanswered points until late in the fourth when the game was out of hand.

South Carolina's defense, which entered having just four turnovers all season, forced a fumble of Philo and picked him off a couple of possessions later. On the fumble, Dylan Stewart, who was making his return after his one-game suspension, came in with the pressure to cause it:

The Gamecocks won 38-19, and successfully won for the first time in Gainesville for the first time since 2014.

LaNorris Sellers has his best game of the season

One of the big questions so far this season was "what's wrong with LaNorris Sellers?" With the exception of the first two blowout wins over Kent State and Towson, he looked far from on the same page with most of his receivers.

But Sellers had a brilliant performance, finishing 23-of-35 for 279 and a season-high four touchdowns. He had added 20 yards on the ground, including a rushing touchdown. He did a great job at finding several different receivers too, throwing touchdown passes to Nyck Harbor, Mazeo Bennett Jr., Donavan Murph and Lex Cyrus. His four scores were the most for him since his game against Missouri in 2024, during which he threw five.

I thought he was a freaking dude today, Beamer said of Sellers via Gamecocks247 after the game. "I mean, some of the throws he threw into tight windows, running the ball, just poised, confident. I don't think anything changed. I think he just continues to trust himself and do what we're asking him to do and go make plays."

Welcome back Dylan Stewart, who led a dominant defensive performance

It's been a tough two weeks for South Carolina's Dylan Stewart, who was suspended last week after throwing a punch towards Alabama player Josh Ford. He returned to the team this week, and it was unclear how effective he'd be, having quiet games so far against Mississippi State and Alabama.

But he came alive and had the best game of his season, accounting for five tackles including four solo stops with his sack of Philo, including a tackle for loss.

Defensively, the Gamecocks took a page from Missouri's playbook last week. Florida was held to just 123 yards rushing and the Gamecocks limited Jadan Baugh to just 59 yards on 15 carries. Philo struggled to sustain long drives for the Gators for the second week in a row. Florida committed three turnovers on the day.

Beamer gets a big win heading into a much-needed bye

This was a big one for Beamer. It marks just the third all-time victory for South Carolina in Gainesville. He also gets some much-needed momentum heading into a bye week that can allow this team to reset. After the game, he spoke about how much this win meant to his family.

"It comes with the job, and we haven't been good enough," Beamer said via 247. "I was a 2-3 football coach coming into this game that had blown leads and lost three SEC games in a row. Blown leads and lost three SEC games in a row. Like I get the criticism, I do, but it's hard on the families because they don't sign up for it.

I can immerse myself in work and just go and try and figure out how to beat Florida and not listen to anything and read anything, which I haven't. They don't get that luxury, so to see the smile on their faces is pretty awesome."

Congrats on a much-deserved win, coach.

While it is still a very long season for the Gamecocks, who still have to play Tennessee, Georgia and Clemson, this was a great road win to get this team back on track.
