Five-star offensive lineman Darius Gray, the top interior lineman offensive lineman in the 2026 class, has officially committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks. Gray chose South Carolina over a loaded final group that included LSU, Clemson, Tennessee, and Ohio State. Most experts believed it was a tight battle between South Carolina and LSU heading into decision day. Ranked as the No. 1 interior offensive lineman from St. Christopher's School in Richmond, VA. Listed as 6-foot-3 and 285 pounds, Gray brings rare athleticism for his size, developed through years of playing both basketball and football. He was not only dominant on the offensive line at St. Christopher, but he also excelled as a defensive lineman and basketball player. This unique skillset helped him earn Prep League co-player of the Year honors last season.
Despite there being more than five hours between Gray's hometown and Columbia, he visited campus numerous times during his recruitment. His strong relationships with head coach Shane Beamer, offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley, and several current players played a key role in sealing the deal. Gray's commitment gives the Gamecocks a true cornerstone for the 2026 offensive line. Even though Gray played tackle in high school, he is projected as a high-level guard or center at the next level in part due to his elite footwork, strength, and speed.
This is a huge momentum boost for South Carolina who now hold a commitment from one of the most highly sought-after linemen in the nation. The Gamecocks' Class of 2026 now has a solid foundation for the future of their offensive line.
