The South Carolina football team has certainly worn some great uniforms in the last few years. From the all-white ones to the all-black uniforms, the uniform crew has not missed when it comes to uniforms.
It may not seem like a big deal to wear a good uniform, but the age-old saying "Look good, play good" is really a true statement. If the players like the uniform they are wearing, they are certainly going to play with more pride in their game.
Now, one of the best uniforms the Gamecocks showcased this past season was their throwback uniforms that represented a very memorable era in South Carolina football history, the 1980s. The Gamecocks wore the uniforms in their matchup against Akron in September of 2024.
Shane Beamer was recently on the radio on 107.5 and was asked about the throwback uniforms, and he said he wouldn't be opposed to wearing them more often.

The 1980 season is remembered by many long-time South Carolina fans as the year that running back George Rogers won the Heisman Trophy. The throwback uniform pays homage to the 1980 uniform that was worn by many South Carolina greats, including Sterling Sharpe, who is featured in the video reveal and recently was announced as a part of the 2025 NFL Hall of Fame Class.
Before the season, Beamer has expressed an interest in throwback uniforms, as many college teams in all sportswear throwback uniforms all the time. It seems like Beamer's interest in wearing the throwbacks more often could come to fruition next season, and there probably won't be any protests from the players, coach, or fans about it.
