South Carolina hosted a number of big-time recruits over the weekend, and it sounds like Shane Beamer is pushing hard for one five-star cornerback.

Over the weekend, Rivals' Chad Simmons reported that Beamer gave five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson "a lot to think about:"

The Gamecocks held spring practices over the weekend, as well as hosting several prospects for both official and unofficial visits. Dobson would be a huge big-time get for South Carolina if the staff can pull it off. Dobson, who plays out of Hough High school in Cornelius, N.C., is the No. 2 overall rated cornerback from the class of 2027, per the 247Sports Composite.

He is the No. 1 overall rated prospect out of North Carolina. He transferred to Hough for his senior season of high school, playing his first few years at Catawba Ridge. Over three seasons there he accounted for 76 total tackles per MaxPreps

He holds offers from several other SEC schools like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Texas and Texas A&M, as well as Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame.  He also runs track and field, and was a two-time state qualifier in the 400-meter dash.

We'll see if the Gamecocks can keep the push for the five-star going in the coming months. South Carolina's 2027 class has just three members currently, ranking 32nd in the country.

The Gamecocks will wrap up spring football later next month. But making some big moves on he recruiting trail will be huge for Beamer to give his fanbase some confidence heading into 2026.
