Two South Carolina basketball legends dominate WNBA's Sunday slate

During Sunday's slate of WNBA games, two former South Carolina basketball stars dominated.
While it is not rare for A'ja Wilson to perform at a high level, the Las Vegas Aces dynamo set a couple of all-time WNBA records against the Washington Mystics.
In the win on the road in Washington, Wilson posted a 28-point, 17-rebound stat line while shooting over 60% from the field. The performance marked Wilson's 5th-straight double-double (each while scoring at least 24 points), and it was the first time in league history in which a player put up three 20-point, 15-rebound games in a row. Wilson also became the first player ever to average 25 points and 15 rebounds over a 5-game span.
A fellow National Player of the Year and National Champion, Aliyah Boston had a huge Sunday afternoon, as well. Boston set a new career-high with 16 rebounds in a road win over the Minnesota Lynx, and she paired that with 17 points on an impressive 8-11 shooting performance from the floor. The big game from the former Gamecock was her second game in a row with at least 17 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 58% shooting from the field.
According to research from acrossthetimeline.com, on Sunday, Boston became just the second WNBA star ever to reach 15 points, 15 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 70% shooting in one game (joining the legendary Sylvia Fowles).
Both Boston and Wilson will play in the upcoming WNBA All-Star Game. Wilson will play for Team USA as part of their tune-up for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France. Boston, joined by fellow Gamecock alum Allisha Gray, will be part of Team WNBA, a group made up of the rest of the WNBA All-Stars. The highly anticipated exhibition will take place on Saturday, July 20th.
