South Carolina basketball freshman Joyce Edwards moved in at USC just last week, but this week she is in Colombia (notice the spelling) to represent Team USA in the U18 AmeriCup.

On Monday, Edwards and Team USA dispatched of Team Brazil with ease, winning by a lopsided score of 97-51, and the results were even more uneven on Tuesday.

Playing against the Puerto Rican team, the United States scored more points in the 1st quarter than Puerto Rico did in the entire game. Outscoring Puerto Rico 28-9, 30-11, 25-0, and 19-2 in the four respective periods, Team USA had an easy day at the office in their second AmeriCup contest.

A big reason for their success was the work of Joyce Edwards. Starting for the second game in a row, she had a huge performance despite not being on the floor for that long due to the blowout nature of the matchup.

The future South Carolina basketball star led both teams in points scored, and in just 15 minutes of action, she logged a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. She also added 2 blocks and 3 steals to her ledger as she was the best player on the court on Tuesday.

Gamecock class of 2025 target Jazzy Davidson had a good showing, as well, scoring 13 points.

Edwards, Davidson, and Team USA will play again on Wednesday, June 19th against Team Mexico. The game will begin at 1:40 PM ET and will be available (free of charge) for streaming on FIBA's YouTube page.

When group play ends on Wednesday, the quarterfinals will be seeded based on the results of group play. Then, the teams will play a single-elimination tournament. The top-4 teams automatically qualify for the U19 World Cup in 2025. There will be consolation games for the quarterfinals losers.
