South Carolina women's basketball makes history with season ticket sellout
South Carolina fans know how to support their back-to-back champion women's basketball team in many ways. Their most recent way of showing their support is selling out season tickets for the first time in program history.
The women's basketball team likes feeling the Gamecock fans "FAMS" instead of fans, which lets everyone know they see them as part of the family.
The sellout of season tickets is not the only part of history this team is making. This is also the seventh time in the last ten years that 10,000 season tickets have been sold, adn the fourth consecutive year it has happened. South Carolina also sold a program record 13,046 season tickets, the highest ever in program history.
There was a 93% renewal rate for previous season ticket holders and 1,097 new season ticket holders. South Carolina women's basketball has also led the nation in average attendance in the last 10 seasons. Even with season tickets sold out, there will still be 18,000 single-game tickets available for each home game of the season.
South Carolina is taking on a very tough journey this season as they go for a three-peat. The last team to win three National Championships in a row was UConn who actually won four in a row from 2013 to 2016.
After winning the National Championship last season, the first ESPN preseason rankings put the Gamecocks at the top of the rankings. Head coach Dawn Staley has been busy in the offseason getting her team together and focused on the upcoming season that will begin in just a few weeks.
