South Carolina football has had a good week.

The Gamecocks entered the week with a hole on the roster at running back. They have since picked up two big-time commitments from transfer portal backs Rocket Sanders (Arkansas) and Oscar Adaway (North Texas).

The wide receiver picture for the Gamecocks looked bleak a week ago, too, but Shane Beamer and his coaching staff have secured commitments from speedy wideouts Jared Brown (Coastal Carolina) and Jayden McGowan (Vanderbilt)

They also came into the week with a need for help on the defensive line. Since then, two big defensive linemen have pledged to join the South Carolina football program as Deandre Jules (Pittsburgh) and Jerome Simmons (Highland Community College) announced their intentions to play in Columbia.

If six transfer portal commitments makes for a good week, seven commitments makes for an even better one. On Thursday afternoon, Beamer announced yet another #WelcomeHome commitment from the transfer portal.

As he often does, Beamer put a hint in his message as to the identity of the mystery commitment. Based on his post, South Carolina football fans can guess that the player is one who is currently on a visit in Columbia.

Georgia Tech EDGE transfer Kyle Kennard is visiting, and South Carolina State running back defection Jawarn Howell and former Vanderbilt quarterback AJ Swann could be still on campus. Texas Tech offensive lineman transfer Monroe Mills and former Ball State tight end Brady Hunt are supposed to be coming in this weekend and, theoretically, could have arrived early. There could have been another player or two who found their way to campus for a Thursday visit, but none have been reported publicly.

All of these players would be able to fill a role that is needed on the 2024 South Carolina football roster. Plus, with the way the Gamecocks have been going, more than one commitment form that group is very possible.
