South Carolina Football: Gamecock coach Shane Beamer teases commitment with #WelcomeHome message
By Kevin Miller
It's been a busy day for South Carolina football fans.
The Gamecocks are dealing with the fallout of a couple more transfer portal entrants (including Pup "we want guys who will die for this program" Howard), former USC assistant coach Jimmy Lindsey got fired from his job at LSU after just one season, and head coach Shane Beamer relieved running backs coach Montario Hardesty of his duties.
Then, just about two hours after the Hardesty news surfaced, Beamer had another message for the Gamecock faithful. A #WelcomeHome post on Twitter/X sent the fanbase into a frenzy.
Beamer's message didn't come with any noticeable clues this time. He often includes the player's class (transfer portal players for this cycle were designated with #AboveAllEl23, as they were all signing during the early signing period in December). However, no class was mentioned in Beamer's message. He also didn't use a Palmetto State flag with his post, something he typically uses to signify that a recruit is from the state of South Carolina.
Could it be a late addition to the class of 2024? Possibly. A future commitment in the '25 cycle? Maybe. A transfer portal player? Could be.
At this point, there has been no information that has come out about the player's identity. However, transfer portal targets Ahmari Huggins-Bruce (wide receiver, Louisville), Bangally Kamara (linebacker, Pittsburgh), and Torricelli Simpkins (offensive lineman, North Carolina Central) are among the players who visited the South Carolina football program this week.
More players are planning to visit from the portal, and the Gamecocks likely aren't quite done recruiting the class of 2024. '25 recruiting is full go, as well.
