South Carolina football still has a couple of holes on the roster. As the transfer portal window reopens, what needs do the Gamecocks still have?

South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks have brought in a good transfer portal class this offseason. A top-10 transfer class is on the way to Columbia, and several position groups will look drastically different in 2024 than they appeared at the beginning of the offseason.

Some of the highest expectations on the team are being put on transfer additions. Running back Rocket Sanders, wide receivers Gage Larvadain and Jared Brown, defensive end Kyle Kennard, and defensive tackle Deandre Jules all have the fanbase buzzing, and several other players from the portal will have opportunities to make a major impact for the Gamecocks.

On April 16th, the transfer portal opens again as most teams will have finished or almost will have finished spring practice. Players who find themselves on the outside-looking-in on the depth chart or who need a fresh start could leave their current programs during that time. Once players enter the portal, they can arrive at their new program at any time that fits within the academic calendar and allows them to be eligible for the fall.

It stands to reason that the Gamecocks will experience some roster attrition this spring, and it is almost a guarantee that they will bring in some talent, as well.

What might Coach Beamer and his staff be looking for in the spring transfer portal window? Some of the needs could change based on who leaves the program, but based on what is known now, there are three spring needs that seem to stick out for the current Gamecocks.
