South Carolina Football Garnet and Black Spring Game Takeaways:
The Offensive Line Was Inconsistent

Last year's Gamecock offensive line was among the worst in the country, so fans have been anxious to see if the unit can be better this year. In the spring game, the results were inconsistent.

At times, the line looked much improved as the big guys seemed less confused and less physically dominated than they did most of last year. However, run blocking still wasn't very good, and stunts caused problems for the blockers just like last year.

Perhaps answering the question about the starting center position, Vershon Lee was playing the position for Team Garnet. Ryan Brubaker started for Team Black, but he is not going to be the starting center. Another name mentioned at times for the starting center job was Torricelli Simpkins, but he played guard next to Lee.

Josiah Thompson was called "our left tackle" by Shane Beamer on the broadcast. Whether that was an information-loaded title or not isn't known, but he started the spring game and looked good in pass protection.
