South Carolina Football Garnet and Black Spring Game Takeaways:
LaNorris Sellers Was Impressive

South Carolina football fans will miss Spencer Rattler this season, but they've got a brand new budding superstar under center. LaNorris Sellers has been hyped up in a major way this offseason, and he showed on Saturday why he's viewed so highly.

Beamer and company have tried to downplay things at the quarterback position and insist that the Gamecocks had a real quarterback competition at play this summer. After the spring game, no one will believe there is a competition.

Sellers showed the separation between himself and the rest of the quarterback room on Saturday. Despite some struggles from the offensive line, he looked comfortable and poised. He scrambled when necessary and made smart decisions regarding when to turn a scramble into a run play and when to try to find an open man downfield.

Sellers is fast enough to outrun defensive linemen and linebackers who are trying to chase him down, and once things are "live," defensive backs are going to have trouble bringing him down because of how big and fast he is.

He didn't make very many difficult throws in the game, but he was accurate and made smart decisions, only putting one ball somewhat in jeopardy. He only had two incompletions (one was a drop from Jared Brown), threw for 70 yards on 9-11 passing, and rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown.
