Later this week, South Carolina football quarterback Spencer Rattler will become the first Gamecock signal-caller to be drafted in the modern NFL Draft era (7 rounds) and just the third former USC QB ever to be drafted.
Rattler's draft stock is a subject of debate for many as some analysts believe he should be taken at the back end of the 1st round and others think he belongs as a late-round selection.
One of the football media names who is high on Spencer Rattler is NFL Network and CBS analyst Charles Davis. Perhaps most famous for his role as a color analyst on the Madden NFL series, Davis is a well-respected analyst in the real world of football, as well. Davis specializes in the NFL Draft for the NFL Network and calls games for CBS, and he has had plenty of things to say lately about his belief in Spencer Rattler.
In an article entitled "2024 NFL Draft: Prospects Charles Davis would pound the table for," Davis listed Spencer Rattler first on his list of post-1st round prospects that he really likes. He mentioned Rattler's "tools and toughness" as a big reason why he is high on the Carolina gunslinger, but Davis' favorite Rattler trait is the progress "on and off the field over the past two seasons" as a Gamecock. The growth in maturity for #7 makes Davis believe he will "make it" in the NFL.
Davis also spoke about Rattler with Air Meriov on his show on 33rd Team Football. He told Meirov that Rattler's 5-star pedigree is obvious on film and that his ability to be humble and remake his image should go a long way with NFL decision-makers.
Rattler and the other South Carolina football draft hopefuls will be tuned in for the NFL Draft, starting Thursday, April 25th (round 1), and into Friday, April 26th (rounds 2 and 3), and Saturday, April 27th (rounds 4-7).
