Happening every summer just a few weeks before fall camp begins, SEC Media Days is the unofficial kickoff of college football season. College baseball has just ended by the time Media Days comes around, and the only major sport being played in Major League Baseball, and with that sport still months away from the World Series, the sports world cannot wait for football season.

SEC Media Days gives coaches (and select players) the opportunity to speak to local and national media, network, and tell the college football world why their team is ready to "take the next step," "compete for championships," and every other cliche. Feeding limited bits of information to the fans (like depth charts, injuries, etc.) are a big part of SEC Media Days, as well.

It is also an opportunity for...uhh...mouthier coaches to take shots at media members, other coaches, rival schools, or anyone else they feel deserves some shade. While Steve Spurrier is the unquestioned king of "talking season," there are some active coaches like Lane Kiffin, Eli Drinkwitz, and Mark Stoops who have used SEC Media Days to take swipes recently.

On Thursday, the SEC announced the speaking schedule for the league's coaching in front of the media.
