There have been a number of South Carolina football rivals that have dealt with legal issues inside their programs this offseason.

The Georgia Bulldogs continue to have driving-related arrests pop up, and the Clemson Tigers have had their own reckless driving arrest and another on gun charges.

According to a report from Gavin Oliver of theclemsontiger.com, on Tuesday, another player from that team in the Upstate was detained for a misdemeanor crime as sophomore defensive lineman Caden Story was arrested for marijuana possession. According to Oliver's report, Story's arrest occurred over the weekend, charges were filed on Tuesday, and records are available from the Pickens County Court.

It is unclear at this time what football-related and/or university-related discipline, if any, will await Story, but Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney is expected to address the situation soon during a previously scheduled media availability at ACC Media Days. Swinney is set to appear alongside Clemson's player representatives in Charlotte, North Carolina on Thursday.

An all-state player coming out of Lanett High School in Alabama, Caden Story was a consensus 4-star recruit who was ranked as high as #148 in the country and 21st among all defensive line prospects. He committed to the in-state Auburn Tigers before flipping his pledge on National Signing Day to the Tigers several hours east. He followed former Auburn defensive assistant Nick Eason who took a job at Clemson.

So far with the Clemson Tigers, Caden has seen game action eleven times in his career. Listed as a combo defensive end/defensive tackle, he has logged stats just once in two years as he picked up a tackle assist during a short stint against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers in 2023. Playing in just one game, Story redshirted in 2022, making him a redshirt sophomore heading into the 2024 campaign.
