South Carolina football fans won't get many spring practice updates on former 5-star wide receiver Nyck Harbor as he is spending much of his time with the South Carolina track and field program this spring.

The updates from the track, though, have been encouraging.

Harbor and the Gamecocks hosted the Weems Baskin Invitational over the weekend, and Carolina set multiple program records on their way to 12 victories on the weekend.

Nyck Harbor was a part of two of those wins.

In the 100-meter sprint, Harbor finished 2nd in the preliminary rounds (to teammate Anthony Greenhow who set a program record), but he came back and won the gold medal in the100-meter sprint final, beating Greenhow and everyone else with a 10.24.

In the 4x100-meter relay, Harbor ran the anchor leg and secured the victory (and a 40.2 overall time for the group). Greenhow, Prescott Jefferson, and Andrew Bond were the other runners of the relay.

On the weekend, Harbor posted the 3rd-best 100-meter time in Division-I track this season, the 7th-best 100-meter time in Division-I track this season, and the 19th-best 4x100-meter relay time in Division-I track this season. He has previously posted top-10 national numbers in the 100-meter and the 200-meter sprints.

Fellow Gamecock Jameesia Ford continued to dominate on the women's side.

For Harbor and South Carolina football, the fast spring times give some hope that the rising sophomore will have a bit of a breakout season in 2024. The 6'5", 240-pound freak flashed some impressive moments in 2023 but was a depth piece most of the year. Without any other taller receivers expected to contend for major snaps this fall, Harbor's opportunities should increase.

Harbor will be with the football team some this spring and summer, but his time will continute to be split between the track and the gridiron.
