Five South Carolina football stars have been invited to compete at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. Wide receiver Xavier Legette, quarterback Spencer Rattler, defensive back Marcellas Dial, tight end Trey Knox, and offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo will all be headed to Indianapolis this week to compete against the other NFL Draft hopefuls.
Rattler and Legette are expected to put up some of the best NFL Combine performances of any players at their positions at the Lucas Oil Stadium showcase. Legette is in contention to run the fastest 40-yard dash time of any player, as well.
The NFL Combine technically begins on Monday, February 26th as some players begin registering that day. However, everything that will happen before Thursday will be behind-the-scenes things like medical exams, team interviews, and cognitive testing. Beginning on Thursday, February 29th, measurements and on-field workouts/drills will begin.
A helpful post on the NFL Combine schedule from ESPN's Jordan Reid can be seen below.
All NFL Combine drills will be broadcast on the NFL Network, starting on Thursday. The broadcast will start at 3:00 PM EST on Thursday and Friday and 1:00 PM EST on Saturday and Sunday.
Cornerback Marcellas Dial and tight end Trey Knox will be the first South Carolina football players to compete. Their positional drills and evaluations will be on Friday and Saturday. Quarterback Spencer Rattler and wide receiver Xavier Legette will participate in drills and evaluations on Saturday and Sunday. Offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo will be last up, handing his drills and evaluations on Sunday and Monday.
Legette and Rattler will be picked in April's NFL Draft, and Dial likely will be taken. Knox has a decent chace of beings selected, as well. Gargiulo is a bit of a long shot. Strong performances in Indy will help Legette and Rattler move up in the draft order, while good showings could secure a draft spot for Dial, Knox, or Gargiulo.
