Talented DB with impressive offer list names South Carolina football among favorites
By Kevin Miller
Class of 2025 recruiting is heating up across the country. Some players are wrapping up their recruitments, and many more are releasing their lists of top schools like 5-star Caleb Cunningham did. Another '25 prospect joined Cunningham and named his top-10 on Monday. Florida defensive back Jovarious Lundy released on social media his ten favorite schools, and South Carolina football made the cut.
South Carolina, Miami, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Penn State, Maryland, Kansas, Indiana, and Cincinnati all are inside Lundy's top-10.
Playing his high school ball at Tampa Bay Technical High School, Lundy is a 3-star prospect according to On3 and Rivals and is unranked by both 247Sports and ESPN. However, he boasts an impressive offer list for someone who hasn't gotten much love from the recruiting industry. He is ranked as a safety, corner, and athlete by the various recruiting outlets.
Lundy is undersized for college football (listed, at his biggest, at 5'11" and 180 pounds and, at his smallest, at 5'10" and 150 pounds), but he still has another year of growth remaining before he steps foot on campus somewhere.
As a player, Lundy spends most of his time playing safety, and he has good ball skills when the football is in the air. He has enough agility and his hips are good enough that when asked to play in man coverage, he sticks with receivers better than many high school safeties.
Despite not being the biggest player, Lunday doesn't mind coming downhill and helping out in run support. He has experience stepping down into the box in short yardage situations, as well.
Lundy also plays some on offense as a wide receiver and was a major factor on Tampa Bay Tech's special teams as a return man and kick coverage player. A flip to offense at the college level seems unlikely, but special teams could be an early avenue to playing time for Lundy when he is a young player in college.
