South Carolina Football Christmas:
Gamecock Santa's Naughty List, The LSU Tigers

At first glance, LSU and South Carolina don't have much reason to dislike each other (on the football field, at least; baseball is a different story). However, Gamecock fans have some built-up frustrations with the Bayou Bengals.

The last time the two teams played in Williams-Brice Stadium was 2008, and the Gamecocks had a real chance to win but dropped a close one 24-17 (though the game is most famous for referee Wilbur Hackett, Jr., a former All-American linebacker from Kentucky, tackling Stephen Garcia as he headed for the end zone). The loss kept the Gamecocks from playing for the SEC East title against Florida a few weeks later.

Then, in 2012, arguably the best South Carolina football team ever rolled into Death Valley ranked #3 in the country. The undefeated Gamecocks had their worst game of the year up to that point and lost by 2. If USC could have pulled off the win, Carolina would have represented the SEC East in Atlanta's SEC Championship Game with a National Championship bid on the line against Alabama.

The Gamecocks have not beaten the Tigers in Columbia since 1930 (though the two teams tied in 1995). The Williams-Brice Stadium crowd will be raucus in September for the matchup, and Gamecock Santa has Brian Kelly's team firmly on the naughty list until the Gamecocks can get over the hump.
