South Carolina football flip target makes All-American Bowl, Gamecocks in the hunt
By Kevin Miller
South Carolina football flip target Kevin Wynn was selected to play in the 2025 All-American Bowl. Wynn, a 4-star defensive tackle commitment of the Florida State Seminoles, was on campus in Columbia this weekend for the Gamecocks' matchup with the LSU Tigers. Universally, the recruits in attendance had good experiences over the weekend.
As a player, Wynn is a space-eating defensive tackle who can take over the interior of the trenches with size, strength, and surprising athleticism. The big fella is a consensus 4-star prospect from the state of Georgia, and he is rated as high as #58 in the country and 8th among defensive tackles (247Sports).
Listed around 6'2" and 325 pounds, Kevin Wynn already has impressive size for the defensive tackle position, and as he develops his body in a college weight room, he has a chance to be a very impactful player on the inside.
Wynn was very high on the South Carolina football program earlier during his recruitment. USC was viewed as one of the favorites to land his services alongside the Florida State Seminoles (the school where he wound up committing) and the home-state Georgia Bulldogs. Now, Georgia is viewed by many to be a likely flip destination, but Carolina is trying their best to give him plenty to think about, as well.
The Gamecocks need young defensive tackle talent on the roster in a big way. Other than redshirt sophomore Jamaal Whyce and the currently unenrolled Jerome Simmons, no Carolina tackles have more than two years of eligibility remaining. The class of 2025 has one defensive tackle pledge as Virginia product Caleb Williams committed to the program during the spring. Landing a player like Wynn would change drastically the trajectory of the defensive tackle room in Columbia moving forward.
