The biggest weakness on the 2023 version of the South Carolina football team was offensive line play. A combination of injuries and poor play up front doomed the Gamecock offense even with great seasons from quarterback Spencer Rattler and wide receiver Xavier Legette.
USC was missing veteran talent and depth in last year's offensive line group, so offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley brought in multiple veterans from the transfer portal this offseason and has kept up his strong efforts recruiting the high school ranks for big uglies who can compete at the SEC level.
Those recruiting efforts have continued into the class of 2025, as well, and South Carolina football has found themselves involved with a large number of talented blockers in the '25 cycle.
One of these players is Peach State recruit Damola Ajidahun, and on Thursday, the enormous offensive tackle announced his list of favorite schools, and Carolina made the cut.
The South Carolina Gamecocks, South Florida Bulls, Tennessee Volunteers, Florida Gators, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Duke Blue Devils, Ole Miss Rebels, and Georgia Bulldogs make up his top-8 list, and the Gamecocks' inclusion is notable since they just offered him a few weeks ago.
As a player, Ajidahun is a true tackle prospect who plays against big-time competition in the Atlanta-area at Duluth High School.
Standing at over 6'6" and nearing 300 pounds, Ajidahun is a very athletic offensive lineman who plays with strength and a never-ending motor. He is a block finisher who seems to be trying to drive his man through the turf on every snap (and he often succeeds at this).
Technically, he has some work to do, but based on his effort level and natural size, strength, and athleticism, if he is able to clean some stuff up (false steps, high pad level, etc.), he could develop into a star at the college level.
You can watch some of his film here.
