South Carolina Football: CFB25 trailer includes blink-and-you'll-miss-it Gamecock moment, and it wasn't a nice one

College football fans (especially those who enjoy video games) could not wait for May 17th. The third Friday in May was special because it was the date on which EA Sports was releasing its first official trailer for its new EA Sports College Football 25 video game. Lots of teams were featured in the trailer, and South Carolina football fans might have thought that the Gamecocks weren't included.

Unfortunately, Carolina was in the trailer, but it wasn't in a flattering light. (The clip starts at the 1:19 mark of the video.)

In a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, the Gamecocks were included in a game clip that was more focused on the Georgia Bulldogs. In the clip, UGA tight end Oscar Delp employed a stop juke move that sent USC defensive back David Spaulding flying past him before Delp accelerated away from Gamecock linebacker Debo Williams.

The short clip hurts a bit for Gamecock fans for a couple of reasons.

David Spaulding and Debo Williams didn't deserve that. Delp, as the heir apparent to Brock Bowers at the tight end position for the Bulldogs, is a good player, but so are Spaulding and Williams. As seniors, Spaulding and Williams will have one last chance to stop Delp and the 'Dawgs this season, and as players who are "In the Game," the Gamecock defenders will have as many opportunities as they like to secure a tackle against Delp in the video game world.

Speaking of Delp, South Carolina football fans likely remember that the talented tight end was long considered a Gamecock lean during the recruiting process. Ultimately, though, Delp elected to sign with the rival Georgia Bulldogs. Carolina was unable to sign a high school tight end in the class of 2022 to replace Delp.

Thankfully, the moment was only a clip from a video game, but it still wasn't easy for the garnet and black faithful to eagerly await to see their favorite team in the CFB25 trailer only to see that.

When will EA Sports College Football 25 be released?

For those interested in purchasing the highly-anticipated game, the official release date is set for July 19th. With the game only being released (for now) on PS5 and X-Box, pre-ordering has already begun on the PlayStation and Microsoft stores.
