South Carolina football fans are having trouble even keeping up with all of the commitments that have been rolling in from transfer portal players over the past two weeks.
The Gamecocks lost a few players in the portal (Stone Blanton, Grayson "Pup" Howard, Kam Sandlin), but they've added six transfer players.
Wide receivers Gage Larvadain and Ahmari Huggins-Bruce, offensive lineman Torricelli Simpkins, linebackers Bangally Kamara and Demetrius Knight, and walk-on defensive back Buddy Mack have all announced their intention to transfer into the South Carolina football program.
But on Sunday, the final day of move-in and move-back-in day for the South Carolina Gamecocks, head coach Shane Beamer revealed that another player had informed him of an impending commitment.
The #WelcomeHome message looked pretty similar to the other transfer portal commitments teased out by Coach Beamer recently, so this commitment is likely from the portal, as well.
The Gamecocks have hosted a lot of transfer players in recent weeks, but most have already announced a commitment to Carolina or to another school. Some of the uncommitted players who have been reported as visitors include Aaryn Parks (offensive lineman, Oklahoma), Pearson Toomey (offensive lineman, Furman), and Monkell Goodwine (defensive lineman, Alabama). Several other players have been linked to the Gamecocks as potential visitors, as well.
Whoever the commitment is, he will be the Gamecocks' 15th scholarship transfer portal addition of this offseason (1 junior college transfer, 8 transfers before Signing Day, and 6 transfers after Signing Day). Considering the fact that 12 of the Gamecocks' 22 departures had never contributed and weren't part of future plans in Columbia, the end result is a net positive for the South Carolina football program.
All of the recent transfer portal commitments announced their identities shortly after Beamer's initial #WelcomeHome, so fans can rest assured that they will know the newest Gamecock sooner rather than later.
