South Carolina football announces early sell out for College GameDay matchup with LSU
By Kevin Miller
South Carolina football fans are ready for a party at Williams-Brice Stadium this weekend.
The Gamecocks will play host to the 16th-ranked LSU Tigers on Saturday, and College GameDay will be in town for the first time since 2014. Adding to what is sure to be a raucous atmosphere, the program announced the expected news of a sell-out for the big game.
Fans of the garnet and black will be at Gamecock Park early on Saturday to celebrate the 9:00 AM ET GameDay start and Noon ET kickoff. Those who can't make it out to George Rogers Boulevard can tune in to watch College GameDay on ESPN and ESPNU or stream the show on the ESPN app. Carolina-LSU will be broadcast on ABC and streamed on ESPN+ and the ESPN app.
The game could be a turning point for the Gamecock season. With a win, an average season could become good, or a good season could become great. With a loss, bowl eligibility is still not a guarantee, and the opportunity for huge momentum heading into the schedule's most difficult stretch will slip through the team's fingers.
The crazy atmosphere in Williams-Brice on Saturday should have a serious impact on the game, but it also should have an impact on future games as a large crop of recruits will descend upon Columbia this weekend.
A handful of class of 2025 prospects will be in town, but the 2026 cycle will be represented by a large contingent of prospects, including top in-state target Jordon Gidron per a report from 247Sports Anna Adams. Major South Carolina basketball recruiting target Mikey Wilkins also will be in Columbia this weekend, according to SportsTalk's Phil Korblut.
Saturday is a day of opportunity for the South Carolina football program, and so far, it seems like the fan base is ready to do their part.
