OBSERVATIONS
- Starters: Ta’Lon Cooper-Meechie Johnson-Zach Davis-BJ Mack-Collin Murray-Boyles
- Both teams got off to ridiculous starts shooting the basketball. After 13 minutes, they both were shooting over 68% from the field. The difference in score (Gamecocks up 10) came because Ole Miss was making difficult 2-pointers, while South Carolina was knocking down 3-pointers.
- Meechie Johnson made a deep 3-pointer in the 1st half, but he was dominating the game as a drive and kick player. He finished the 1st half with 6 assists.
- Ta'Lon Cooper got banged up in the 1st half, but he did not come out of the game. Collin Murray-Boyles also tweaked his ankle a bit in the 1st half but didn't leave the game, either.
- In the 1st half, Carolina made 7 3-pointers.
- All 9 players who got in the game in the opening 20 minutes scored for South Carolina basketball. In contrast, Ole Miss had 29 of their 31 points come from four players.
- Because of the high shooting percentages in the 1st half, the rebounding numbers were low. South Carolina led the battle on the boards 12-9.
- The perimeter jumpers stopped falling for the Gamecocks in the 2nd half, and the score tightened.
- BJ Mack got abused by the 7'5" Jamarion Sharp in the 2nd half; Josh Gray came back in and shut him down.
- Collin Murray-Boyles was the best Gamecock on Tuesday.
