OBSERVATIONS
- Starters: Ta’Lon Cooper-Meechie Johnson-Zach Davis-BJ Mack-Collin Murray-Boyles
- Oregon switched between a matchup zone and man defense, causing some problems early for the Carolina offense.
- Former Gamecock Jermaine Couisnard had two turnovers for the Ducks before he ever took a shot. He really struggled with Zach Davis guarding him but was excellent otherwise. Once Oregon started setting screens for Couisnard, he started scoring, finishing the opening half with 14 points.
- BJ Mack was a possession killer in the 1st half, taking shots almost every time he touched the ball.
- Collin Murray-Boyles was off in the 1st half, turning the ball over twice and logging just 1 made shot before halftime. Things didn't get better for him after halftime.
- The Ta'Lon Cooper 3/4-court heave ended an 8-minute scoring drought (and 20-6 Oregon run).
- Carolina shot just 32% in the 1st half, while allowing Oregon 61% efficiency.
- No one wearing a white jersey scored more than 5 points in the 1st half despite five Gamecocks taking at least 4 shots from the field.
- South Carolina was lifeless coming out of halftime, as well, going down by 12 quickly. The margin jumped to 18 by the 13:32 mark of the game.
- BJ Mack and Collin Murray-Boyles were absolutely dominated by N'Faly Dante.
- The Gamecocks fought back, but they couldn't overcome the dominance of N'Faly Dante and Jermaine Couisnard.
- Meechie Johnson and Ta'Lon Cooper were the only Gamecocks who were good on offense, but they had tough days on defense.
- Jermaine Couisnard, who was shooting 38% from the field on the season, dominated his former team with 40 points, a new career-high.
