South Carolina Basketball's "Must Wins" for March Madness Berth
No. 6 Tennessee Volunteers

As the whole college basketball world remembers, the Gamecocks followed up a home blowout of the Kentucky Wildcats by traveling to Knoxville to beat the #5-ranked Tennessee Vols, cementing their place among postseason contenders.

The Gamecocks played "their game," slowed the pace, and played strong defense. Ta'Lon Cooper was excellent, and Coach Paris got enough contributions from the rest of his team. Despite a herculean effort from Dalton Knecht, USC held the talented wing to a relatively inefficient game.

As Tennessee has reminded the country that they are one of the top-10 teams in the country once again, the Gamecocks are likely to be underdogs when the Vols travel to Columbia with revenge on their minds. Rick Barnes' team has only lost one game since falling at the hands of the Fighting Q-Zips, and they have played much better on offense of late.

While South Carolina certainly is capable of upsetting Tennessee yet again, they shouldn't be expected to win this one. A loss to Tennessee also doesn't really hurt the team's postseason resume, either, making the March 6th primetime game on ESPN2 far from a "must win."
