South Carolina Basketball: Gamecocks up for uniform of the year award

South Carolina basketball is the dominant program in women's college basketball. The Gamecocks picked up their third national championship on Sunday when they knocked off Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes 87-75 in the title game.

Head coach Dawn Staley and her team have racked up an almost never-ending list of individual honors, as well. Most notably, Staley won multiple National Coach of the Year awards, Kamilla Cardoso was the WBCA National Defensive Player of the Year, Cardoso and Te-Hina Paopao were All-Americans, and the Gamecocks brought home eight different SEC honors.

The award wins for the 2023-2024 Gamecocks might not be over, though.

The UniSwag Uniform of the Year honor is still up for grabs, and South Carolina basketball is a finalist for the award along with the Southern Cal Trojans, East Carolina Pirates, Florida Gators, Maryland Terrapins, Tennessee Volunteers, Iowa Hawkeyes, UCF Knights, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oregon Ducks, Pittsburgh Panthers, Texas Longhorns, UCLA Bruins, UConn Huskies, and North Carolina Tar Heels. The Gamecocks' black uniform is one of the smoothest road uniform designs in all of college basketball.

The "Tribute to Cocky" alternate home uniforms are the coolest alternate jersey the Gamecocks have ever used.

Even the least-worn uniform from this season, the road garnet, is a nice look.

There are a lot of really good uniforms in the modern game, but the South Carolina Gamecocks have a deep, elite selection, and the UniSwag Uniform of the Year award should find its way back to Columbia alongside all of the other trophies this year.
