South Carolina basketball had a bye week this week, and it appears the layoff helped the Gamecocks "get right." In a much-needed win, Lamont Paris' team ended their 2-game losing streak and won by a score of 72-59 to move to 22-5 on the season.

OBSERVATIONS
- Starters: Ta’Lon Cooper-Meechie Johnson-Zach Davis-BJ Mack-Collin Murray-Boyles
- Myles Stute missed the game with a knee injury sustained in practice. Meechie Johnson returned after leaving the last game (Saturday against LSU) with a potential head injury.
- The Gamecocks were outworked on the glass in the early goings after Ole Miss bricks, but it didn't hurt them much. Carolina dominated the rebounding battle after the initial 3 offensive rebounds from the Rebels.
- Matthew Murrell picked up his 2nd foul very early in the game and had to play sparingly in the 1st half.
- Collin Murray-Boyles also picked up his 2nd foul early, but Coach Paris didn't sit the freshman until he earned his 3rd. Jacobi Wright and Zach Davis had 2 fouls before the 10-minute mark of the 1st half, as well.
- The Gamecocks played some pretty good defense in the 1st half, but some bad moments (letting Allen Flanigan run uncontested on a fastbreak, offensive rebounds/putbacks, silly fouls, etc.) allowed Ole Miss to stay in the game.
- Stephen Clark played two stints in the 1st half and gave USC some good minutes.
- Zach Davis had a really nice 1st half but left the game with a limp just before halftime.
- Shortly after halftime, Allen Flanigan was ejected after throwing an elbow at Zach Davis' head.
- The rest of the game saw the Gamecocks coast to the finish line but still built their lead up to 17 points at its biggest.
- When Carolina stopped playing aggressively on offense, the scoring all but stopped, but it didn't matter.
- After several subpar defensive games in a row, South Carolina basketball put on a clinic on that end of the floor on Saturday.
