South Carolina Basketball: Gamecocks get their final recruiting rankings
By Kevin Miller
South Carolina basketball coach Lamont Paris has a very strong recruiting class on its way to Columbia this summer. With three players considered 4-star prospects by at least one major recruiting outlet, the group is the highest-rated class for the Gamecocks since either 2015 or 2010 depending on which outlet one checks.
On3 has been rolling out its most recent (and final) player recruiting rankings for the class of 2024, and the Carolina pledges experienced some movement.
Cam Scott is the most recent commitment in the class. The former Texas Longhorn commit elected to stay home, instead, and the Lexington High School standout is the highest-rated player in USC's class. A former 5-star, Scott slipped a bit in the rankings, but in the latest On3 player rankings, he inched back up a bit, moving 4 spots to #34. The dynamic scoring wing is a candidate to start immediately next season.
Trent Noah was the second pledge in the class, and the Harlan County, Kentucky product has seen all of his rankings rise since committing to the Gamecocks. An elite perimeter shooter who brings more to the table than just a smooth shot, Noah has hovered between 110 and 140 in all of the recruiting services' rankings and has settled in at #122 in On3's final rankings. No team ever has too much shooting, so Noah could play an important role on next year's team.
Okku Federiko was the first 2024 commitment for the Gamecocks as he jumped into the fold on the same day as his countryman from Finland Morris Ugusuk. Federiko took a huge jump in the previous rankings update as he became an On3 4-star prospect. In the latest ranking, though, he dropped four spots from 88th nationally to 92nd. Federiko is a high-upside player who will come off the bench next year.
