South Carolina Basketball: College GameDay coming to Columbia

South Carolina basketball has played the College GameDay game of the week once this year, but it was on the road. Now, the panel will make their way to Columbia for the Gamecocks' matchup with the Georgia Bulldogs.

South Carolina basketball has played in front of College GameDay once this year, but that contest was on the road (the January victory in Baton Rouge against LSU). Now, the Gamecocks will have an opportunity for GameDay to come to their city as Elle Duncan, Andraya Carter, Rebecca Lobo, Carolyn Peck, and Chiney Ogwumike will be in Columbia this weekend for the team's only regular season meeting this year against the Georgia Bulldogs.

When Carolina hosts the Georgia on Sunday, it will be in front of the GameDay panel. ESPN has to be happy with the selection of USC-UGA as Colonial Life Arena is sold out once again. Four Sunday sellouts in a row (so far) have given the Gamecocks a really good chance of setting the new all-time attendance record, both in average and total fan attendance, and the game against Georgia is another step along the way to reaching those numbers.

The undefeated Gamecocks have not played the 'Dawgs since last year's Senior Day festivities for the "Freshies" class, a more-competitive-than-expected game that capped off South Carolina basketball's undefeated regular season. This year's game should not be competitive as USC is in 1st place in the league (and in the national polls), while Georgia is in last place with just 2 SEC victories.

This time around, a win over Georgia and an undefeated regular season are part of the goals for Dawn Staley's team, but finishing what they started is at the forefront of the minds of the players and coaches in garnet and black.

Kamilla Cardoso will be back for the Gamecocks this week as she returns from Olympic qualifiers in Brazil. It is unclear if suspended freshman Sahnya Jah will return for the game. Still, getting closer to their full allotment of players can only help Dawn Staley's team as they get nearer and nearer to the NCAA Tournament once again.

South Carolina basketball will play Tennessee in Knoxville on Thursday at 7:00 PM EST on ESPN before Sunday's 1:00 tip against Georgia which will be broadcast on ABC and the ESPN app.
