South Carolina Basketball's 2024-2025 Roster Breakdown:
Wing Myles Stute

A starter to begin last season and a key bench piece to end it, Myles Stute will be an important player in garnet and black again during the 2024-2025 campaign.

A real candidate to be the team's top 3-point shooter (he was 2nd in 3-point percentage last year), Stute will get most of his minutes at the small forward position but could shift down to the 4 in small-ball lineups. He has enough strength and length to hold up against smaller frontcourt players on defense and enough athleticism to make life difficult for bigger opponents trying to chase him around off-ball.

Stute battled some injuries last year, but South Carolina basketball fans hope that he is back to full strength for his final year of eligibility. He was noticeably slower after a knee sprain last year (an expected reality), but when he was healthy, he was a solid defender against most wings and some smaller forwards.

Fearlessness is part of Stute's game and will serve him well again this season. The 6'6" wing isn't afraid to rise up and shoot the ball whenever he feels like it is a good look, and he has shown himself to have the mental toughness necessary to be a clutch performer (most notably with two ice-in-his-veins free throw makes to help seal a road win over the Tennessee Volunteers last year).

Stute has some rebounding potential, as well, having 8 games with at least 5 rebounds last year. That might not sound like much, but with his role on offense being primarily as a catch-and-shoot player on the perimeter and his battle with injuries, the fact that he averaged over 1 offensive rebound per game was somewhat impressive. He won't be among the team leaders in the statistic this year, but he could turn a game or two with his efforts on the glass.

Fans can expect a big role from Myles Stute again in the 2024-2025 season, whether it is as a starter or as a key player off the bench.
