Dawn Staley and her South Carolina basketball team completed the weekend sweep of the Mississippi State Bulldogs with an 85-66 win at Colonial Life Arena.

The Gamecocks got off to a poor start, allowing Mississippi State to get off to a 15-10 lead. However, a strong end to the 1st quarter and start to the 2nd quarter put the Gamecocks ahead, and they never relinquished the lead again.

Though the Gamecocks found themselves with a 27-point lead in the 4th quarter and a 19-point victory, Sunday was not South Carolina basketball's best performance.

Uncharacteristically sloppy defense plagued Carolina at times, and the Gamecocks also did not have a great day offensively despite scoring 85 points.

Nothing about the contest was that remarkable for USC's team box score numbers, but individual efforts from a handful of players helped keep those numbers afloat. Raven Johnson and MiLaysia Fulwiley both had tough moments, but they helped salvage their games with a combined 7-7 effort from the free throw line.

In the end, the Gamecocks' superiority showed through despite the less-than-stellar play, and South Carolina basketball won 85-66.
