South Carolina baseball has just one series remaining before the SEC Tournament and (hopefully) the NCAA Tournament.

That series begins on Thursday night as Mark Kingston's team is in Knoxville to take on the Tennessee Volunteers for a three-game set that could determine the SEC regular season champion (Tennessee is one game back of the league lead) and could determine if the Gamecocks comfortably make a Regional, if they just back into the tournament field, or if they get left out altogether.

Ahead of that final series and amidst some of the negative feelings currently circling the South Carolina baseball program after their embarrassing sweep at the hands of the Georgia Bulldogs, the Gamecocks received some positive news.

This week, the SEC announced their SEC Baseball Community Service Team, and Gamecock shortstop Will Tippett was the USC representative.

The official release from the Southeastern Conference read as follows:

"Will Tippett participated in the Screaming Eagles Baseball Game with children with disabilities ... He helped with MLK Day of Service Event- taught local youth baseball drills ... Will also donated cans for the SAAC Thanksgiving Food & Toiletry Drive .. He visited White Knoll Elementary School and read books to students."

Tippett's work in the community has ranged all over the Columbia area, and he has gotten involved in several important causes, showcasing a similar versatility that he has demonstrated on the field. Having played in the outfield, second base, and shortstop for the Gamecocks, Tippett has been the primary starting shortstop during his sophomore campaign. After missing some time with a concussion, Tippett hit a home run last weekend in his return to action.

The three games of the Gamecocks vs. Volunteers series this weekend will be streamable on the SEC Network+ and will start at 6:30 PM EST (Thursday), 6:30 PM EST (Friday), and 1:00 PM EST (Saturday).
