South Carolina Baseball: Gamecocks back in most top-25 polls

South Carolina baseball is back in most of the top-25 polls, but like last week, not every outlet ranked the Gamecocks.

South Carolina baseball was out of almost all the top-25 college baseball rankings two weeks ago but pushed back into most of the polls last week after taking two of three from the Florida Gators.

The Gamecocks won in the mid-week over The Citadel, but they dropped two of three to the Arkansas Razorbacks at Founders Park over the weekend. Despite the series loss, though, not much changed for the 9-9 YardCocks in the national polls.

D1Baseball re-instated the Gamecocks as a ranked team last week, and they hung on to a top-25 spot, sliding down to #24 from #20 in last week's ranking.

Perfect Game did not rank South Carolina baseball last week, and they elected to keep Mark Kingston's team out of their top-25 again this week.

Baseball America dropped USC three spots to 22nd after slotting them in at 19 a week ago.

There was no change in the USA Today college baseball ranking of Carolina as the garnet and black stay put at #21.

The Gamecocks moved up a spot in the NCBWA (National College Baseball Writers Association) rankings, climbing from 20th to 19th.

Slipping from 16th to 18th this week, South Carolina fell two placed in College Baseball Central's top-25.

Things won't get easier for the team moving forward. USC has four more SEC series remaining on the regular season schedule, and three of the four series come against ranked opponents (and the fourth will be on the road).

The Gamecocks will have a chance for a rankings surge with a good weekend as their next games will come in a three-game set against the #4 Kentucky Wildcats. Game 1 on Friday will begin at 7:00 PM EST and will be on SEC Network+. First pitch for game 2 on Saturday is set for 6:00 PM EST and will be on the SEC Network. The series finale will start at 3:00 PM EST and also will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
