The South Carolina baseball team had a roller coaster of a regular season in 2024, and because of that, the Gamecocks found themselves somewhat on the postseason bubble heading into the SEC Tournament a week ago.

Thanks to advancing to the SEC Tournament semifinals, though, Carolina secured their spot in the NCAA Tournament and moved themselves up to a comfortable seedline. The results in Hoover left many college baseball analysts projecting the Gamecocks to play as the 2nd seed in the Clemson Regional, and a few predictions rolled in for USC to play in the Chapel Hill Regional or Raleigh Regional, as well.

On Monday, during the NCAA Tournament Selection Show, it was revealed that, as expected, Mark Kingston and his South Carolina baseball team had been chosen as a 2-seed. The Gamecocks will be the 2nd team in the Raleigh Regional, hosted by the NC State Wolfpack.

As the 2-seed in the Regional, the Gamecocks will match up with 3-seed James Madison Dukes in the first round of Regional play. The 1-seed NC State Wolfpack and 4-seed Bryant Bulldogs will also play, and the winners will face off in the winners' bracket, while the losers will get another opportunity thanks to the double-elimination nature of the Regional round.

If the Gamecocks were to bring home the Raleigh Regional trophy, they likely would be heading to Athens to take on the Georgia Bulldogs in the Super Regional round. That Regional also has the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Army Black Knights, and UNC-Wilmington Seahawks vying for the Supers spot.

Fellow SEC teams like the Tennessee Volunteers (1-seed), Kentucky Wildcats (1-seed), Texas A&M (1-seed), Georgia Bulldogs (1-seed), Arkansas Razorbacks (1-seed), Mississippi State Bulldogs (2-seed), Alabama Crimson Tide (2-seed), Vanderbilt Commodores (2-seed), LSU Tigers (2-seed), and Florida Gators (3-seed) all made the field. Future SEC teams Oklahoma (1-seed) and Texas (2-seed) also made the tournament.

Full game and television/streaming details will be released soon, but it is known already that Carolina will play James Madison on Friday.
