Gamecock fans should be excited with the news that head coach Shane Beamer provided in his press conference on Tuesday. After suffering an injury during the LSU game in Week 3, quarterback LaNorris Sellers is on track to possibly play this week.
While Beamer did not give an answer as to whether or not Sellers would actually play or not, he gave a positive update on his ankle injury. Beamer also gave a good update on the injury to running back Raheim "Rocket" Sanders.
"LaNorris and Rocket were both out there. They both looked good," Beamer said in his press conference. "Were they 100 percent? I wouldn't say they were 100 percent, but they both told me they felt great, and they look good, and they'll both be able to do even more tomorrow, I would think, as well."
Sellers missed most of the second half against LSU, a game that South Carolina got away from them a lot due to the injury. Beamer said that Sellers wanted to play against Akron and possibly could have, but with a non-conference game on the slate and a bye week after, the coaching staff chose to sit him and give him more time to heal.
Sanders suffered a leg injury against Akron before the bye week, but with an extra week to heal, it seems that the Gamecocks will have two of the best playmakers for a ranked matchup against Ole Miss this week.
Beamer didn't have to say anything about the status of both Sellers and Sanders' injuries with the injury report coming out on Wednesday, but he was meeting with the media and felt the need to give the update. The depth chart for South Carolina came out with Sellers and Sanders set as the starters, so that should give fans even more hope.
